4.2. Companies are solely responsible for selecting content creators and agreeing with them the terms of each collaboration.
4.3. We do not guarantee the quality of the services provided by content creators or the accuracy of the data provided by companies.
5. Payments and invoicing
5.1. Payment for collaborations and receipt of invoices
Companies pay Zexel the amount of the collaborations according to the invoice issued by Zexel. Zexel pays each creator the amount due for the services provided, through regulated payment providers, and keeps them informed and supported throughout the process so they receive their payment correctly.

We reserve the right to charge a percentage or a fee in consideration for the use of Zexel Pay. Before completing any transaction, we will clearly state the applicable percentage or fee.
5.3. Issuing invoices
Zexel will issue companies the invoices for the services provided by the creators, following the instructions given by the companies and in accordance with applicable regulations.
5.4. Consolidated invoicing and service agreement
Zexel Pay offers a consolidated invoicing service that lets companies streamline their accounting and payments by grouping the collaborations of several content creators into a single invoice.
Zexel enters into a service agreement with content creators that governs the relationship between the two parties and the terms under which Zexel contracts, invoices and pays for their collaborations. By using Zexel Pay, content creators accept the terms of this agreement and undertake to comply with them.
This service aims to make managing collaborations between companies and content creators simpler and more efficient. With consolidated invoicing, brands and agencies can request payment for several collaborations by different creators and receive a single invoice that details each collaboration separately.
The service agreement sets out the framework under which Zexel contracts creators for campaigns, invoices their services to companies and pays them for those services, speeding up the payment and invoicing process.
Consolidated invoicing offers the following advantages:
- More efficient accounting: by grouping several collaborations into a single invoice, brands and agencies can centralise information and records and simplify their accounting procedures.
- Time savings: by receiving a single invoice covering the collaborations of several creators, brands and agencies spend less time reviewing and processing individual invoices.
- Transparency: even though collaborations are grouped into a single invoice, each one is detailed accurately, giving a clear view of the services provided by each creator.
- Simpler payment: brands and agencies can make a single payment for all the collaborations included in the invoice.
Although collaborations are grouped into a consolidated invoice, each one will be detailed individually. Content creators and companies will be able to view the information for each transaction, including the services provided, the amounts and any other relevant information.
Zexel undertakes to ensure the integrity and accuracy of each consolidated invoice based on the information received from users. However, companies are responsible for reviewing and checking the information on the invoice before making payment, and creators are responsible for submitting, reviewing and checking the information they provide to Zexel Pay to receive their payments.
Payment and invoicing process:
- Invoicing and collection from companies: Zexel invoices companies for the services provided in the campaigns and receives the corresponding payment from them.
- Consolidated invoicing: when several collaborations from different campaigns by the same creator accumulate, Zexel may issue a consolidated invoice detailing each campaign separately.
- Payment to creators: Zexel pays creators according to the agreed timeframes and the payment method chosen by each creator, through regulated payment providers.
The service agreement sets out the rights and responsibilities of Zexel and of content creators. Zexel undertakes to provide an efficient and secure service for managing, invoicing and paying for collaborations, and creators undertake to provide accurate information and to comply with applicable tax and legal regulations.
Acceptance of the service and terms of use:
By using Zexel Pay and accepting campaign payments through it, content creators acknowledge and accept the terms of this service agreement. They also undertake to provide truthful and complete information to ensure the accuracy of the invoices issued and the payments received.
Important note:
Content creators must read and understand the service agreement before using Zexel Pay. If they have any questions about its terms, they can contact Zexel for clarification.
This service agreement is an essential part of the collaboration between content creators and Zexel, and is designed to ensure a relationship of transparency, efficiency and trust in the payment and invoicing process.
5.5. Responsibility for data
Companies are responsible for ensuring that the data they provide for payments and for issuing invoices is accurate and correct. Zexel is not responsible for errors or inaccuracies in invoices resulting from incorrect information provided by companies.
5.6. Information for self-billing
Content creators must provide the information needed to issue self-billed invoices, including their tax details and details of the services provided.
5.7. Payments to creators
Payments to creators are made through regulated payment providers, using the payment methods available at any given time. Payment timeframes depend on the verification of the content creator’s tax details.
5.8. Zexel Pay for brands and agencies
For the Zexel Pay for brands and agencies service, a 5% fee will be applied to payments sent. This service allows brands to request payments and receive the corresponding invoices.
5.9. Zexel Pay for creators
5.9.1. Ways to receive payments
Content creators can receive their payments by:
- Bank transfer: to the creator’s bank account. To use this option, the creator must have a verified tax ID (NIF) or VAT number.
- PayPal: to the creator’s PayPal account.
5.9.2. Verified NIF, Tax ID or VAT number
A verified NIF, Tax ID or VAT number is the identification number that allows valid invoices to be issued, with or without VAT. Persons registered as VAT taxpayers must issue invoices with VAT for transactions subject to this tax. Zexel provides general tax information to help creators invoice their collaborations correctly.
5.10. Compliance with regulations and taxation
Zexel takes care of the tax obligations that correspond to it in each collaboration, such as applying and paying over the applicable withholdings. Content creators, for their part, are responsible for complying with all laws, regulations and tax obligations applicable to their own activity and to the income they obtain through Zexel Pay.
Zexel manages the invoicing and payment of collaborations through a secure and efficient service. Even so, content creators acknowledge and accept that responsibility for the legality and taxation of their own activity lies with them.
Legal and tax obligations of content creators:
- Legal compliance: content creators must comply with all laws and regulations applicable in their jurisdiction and in any other jurisdiction where they carry out their activity. This includes, among other things, obtaining the necessary licences and permits, complying with advertising and marketing regulations, and respecting intellectual property rights.
- Tax obligations: content creators are responsible for meeting their tax obligations and filing their tax returns in accordance with current regulations. This includes correctly declaring and paying tax on the income obtained through Zexel Pay.
Limitation of Zexel’s liability:
Zexel strives to provide a secure and efficient service for invoicing and paying for collaborations. However, Zexel accepts no liability for content creators’ compliance with the laws and tax rules applicable to their activity. Creators accept that any problem, dispute, penalty or legal consequence arising from their failure to comply with applicable laws and regulations is their sole responsibility.
Tax advice:
Zexel offers tax advisory services through Zexel Services to help content creators understand their tax obligations and comply with regulations. However, it is the creators’ responsibility to seek independent tax advice and make informed decisions about their tax affairs.
Acceptance of responsibility:
By using Zexel Pay, content creators acknowledge and accept that responsibility for complying with the laws and tax rules applicable to their own activity lies solely with them. Zexel is not liable for any legal or tax consequences that may arise from a content creator’s failure to comply with laws and regulations.
5.10.1. Content creators resident in Spain who are not registered as self-employed
Last updated: August 2025.
Zexel Pay for creators lets content creators get paid for the services they provide to their clients through Zexel, which acts as their agency: Zexel contracts the creator, invoices the client for the collaboration and pays the creator.
In this process:
- Invoices to the client are issued by Zexel.
- Creators are paid once the client has paid the invoice.
- The creator must have a verified profile before receiving payment.
- The creator invoices Zexel according to their tax situation.
This allows brands, agencies and platforms to work with creators without worrying about tax complexity, and gives the creator a documented and transparent payment.
Option for creators who are not self-employed
Zexel Pay offers a specific service for creators who are tax resident in Spain and are not registered as self-employed (autónomos), provided the collaboration is occasional and the legal limits are respected.
There are three options for working with creators who are not self-employed:
Option 1 (most recommended): register as self-employed. Under current Spanish law, any habitual economic activity must be registered with the Spanish Tax Agency (form 036/037) and with Social Security. With this option, the limits of this service do not apply.
Option 2 (recommended): register for the IAE (Business Activities Tax). Invoices must include: taxable base + 21% VAT – 15% IRPF (personal income tax withholding). This option requires filing VAT returns quarterly. On Zexel Pay, this option is limited to a maximum of 3 invoices per year.
Option 3: as an individual not registered for the IAE. Invoices must include: taxable base – 15% IRPF. It is advisable to use a tax advisor (gestoría) to file your income tax return. The Spanish Tax Agency may impose penalties if it sees fit, and Zexel is not responsible for them. On Zexel Pay, this option is limited to a maximum of 3 invoices per year.
Requirements for using this service without being self-employed
To access this option, the creator must meet all of the following requirements:
- Choose one of the three options above.
- Respect the following income limits:
- Option 2: not exceed €9,000 gross per year through Zexel Pay.
- Option 3: not exceed €2,500 gross per year through Zexel Pay.
- Not have received more than 3 payments in the same calendar year.
- Accept the terms and conditions, which state that a 15% IRPF withholding will be applied to the gross amount.
- Receive minimum payments of €200 (taxable base) by transfer. This minimum only applies to payment requests where the creator pays the service fee. It does not apply when their client or payer pays Zexel’s service fee.
- Be tax resident in Spain and of legal age.
- Not be receiving public benefits or grants that are incompatible with additional income.
Limitations and exclusions
The following may not use this service:
- Creators who exceed 3 payments per year or the established gross income limits.
- Minors without authorisation for their representative to receive payment, whether or not the representative is self-employed.
- Foreign nationals without a work permit or without tax residence in Spain.
- Anyone receiving benefits or grants that are incompatible with additional income or with IRPF withholdings.
How payment and invoicing work
- Zexel issues the invoice to the company working with the creator, meeting all tax requirements.
- A 15% IRPF withholding is applied, which Zexel declares to the Spanish Tax Agency.
- The creator receives the net amount in their bank account.
- This income is reported to the Spanish Tax Agency and may be requested by banks.
- The creator is responsible for filing their income tax return and for meeting any other tax obligations arising from this income.
Recommendations and warnings
- If you receive public benefits or grants, or do not want IRPF withholdings applied, we recommend that you do not use this service.
- If your income is recurring or exceeds the established limits, you must register as self-employed.
- Failing to declare taxes in Spain is considered tax fraud.
- If you are registered for the IAE and have been paid invoices with VAT, you must file the corresponding returns, even if you are not registered as self-employed.
Acceptance of the conditions
By accepting a payment through Zexel Pay without being self-employed:
- You declare that you meet all the established requirements.
- You agree that Zexel will issue an invoice on your behalf (self-billing), applying the corresponding tax withholding.
Legal warning
If you choose to get paid without meeting these requirements, you assume responsibility before the Spanish Tax Agency and Social Security, including possible penalties for issuing invoices without being correctly registered.
Please remember that, under current Spanish law, any habitual economic activity must be registered with the Spanish Tax Agency and Social Security. This means being registered for the IAE and, in most cases, registered as self-employed.
Zexel makes it easier to get paid for services provided, but is not responsible for each creator’s tax status. Zexel does not exempt anyone from complying with the law or offer protection against a tax inspection.
We recommend consulting a tax advisor before using this service.
Year-end closing and quarterly invoice management
On Zexel Pay, it is essential that all invoices generated during a tax year are received, recorded and paid within that same year. This ensures legal and tax compliance and avoids having to file supplementary returns, which may have legal consequences for Zexel and for the creators or suppliers involved.
Deadlines for receiving invoices each quarter:
- First quarter: by 31 March.
- Second quarter: by 30 June.
- Third quarter: by 30 September.
- Fourth quarter and year-end closing: by 31 December.
31 December is the final deadline for closing each year.
If an invoice is found that relates to a previous quarter or year and has not yet been processed, the client must ask the creator to correct the date of the invoice so that it matches the period in which it will actually be declared.
Important: an invoice dated in one year cannot be recorded in the following year. For example, if an invoice is dated 15 December but is not recorded until January of the following year, a tax irregularity occurs if it is declared in the wrong year.
To avoid this, all invoices for the year (from creators or suppliers) must be submitted and requested for payment before 31 December. From January onwards, invoices dated the previous year will not be accepted or processed.
Recommendations for clients:
- Upload and request invoices within the corresponding quarter.
- Plan campaign and collaboration payments well in advance.
- Explain to creators the importance of issuing their invoices on time.
5.11. Corrective invoices for errors
If an error occurs in an invoice issued by Zexel, a corrective invoice will be issued to correct it and accurately reflect the corresponding transaction.
Corrective invoice process:
- Identifying errors: if an issued invoice contains errors in the services provided, the amounts or other relevant information, the issue of a corrective invoice will be considered.
- Communication and correction: Zexel will notify the parties involved of the error and of its intention to issue a corrective invoice, which will detail the errors corrected and the correct information.
- Recording the corrected transaction: the corrective invoice will correct the errors in the original invoice to accurately reflect the transaction and avoid confusion.
Effect on payments:
Issuing a corrective invoice will not affect payments already made. The amounts of the corrected transactions will remain consistent with the original payments reflected in the original invoice.
Duty to notify:
If a content creator or a company identifies an error in an invoice issued by Zexel, they must notify Zexel immediately so that a corrective invoice can be issued.
Limited liability:
Zexel undertakes to correct errors in issued invoices and to issue the necessary corrective invoices. However, Zexel accepts no liability for any consequences arising from errors in the original invoices.
5.12. Payment refunds and corrective invoices where payment is not possible
In exceptional cases where a payment must be refunded to the company and the corresponding corrective invoice issued, Zexel will follow the procedure set out in this clause.
Reasons for refunding a payment:
- Unable to pay the creator: if, for any reason, a content creator cannot receive their payment, the company may request a refund of the payment made. This may be due to technical reasons, problems with the creator’s account or any other circumstance that prevents the payment from reaching the creator.
- Other exceptional reasons: in exceptional situations where it is shown that a refund is necessary for reasons not attributable to Zexel and beyond its control, the issue of a corrective invoice together with a refund of the corresponding amount to the company will be considered.
Refund and corrective invoice process:
- Refund request: the company must notify Zexel in writing of the need for a refund, providing the transaction details, the reason for the refund and any relevant documentation.
- Review and verification: Zexel will review the request and check that the conditions for a refund are met. If the refund is justified, it will issue the corresponding corrective invoice.
- Issuing the corrective invoice: Zexel will issue a corrective invoice that accurately reflects the original transaction and the amount being refunded.
If the requested amount is refunded, for any reason, Zexel will retain a service fee equal to 5% of the total amount paid. This fee covers the administrative and processing costs of the original transaction and the refund.
Limitation of liability:
Zexel undertakes to handle refund requests promptly and professionally. However, Zexel accepts no liability for situations that make a refund necessary or for their consequences.
Duty to notify:
The company must notify Zexel immediately if it needs to request a refund and the issue of a corrective invoice. Late notification may make it harder for Zexel to handle the refund efficiently.
